Top Ten Fantasy Books I Want To Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and Bookish.

This week we were told to pick a genre and make a list of books that we want to read from that genre or books that you can’t believe you haven’t read from that genre, so I decided to go with fantasy. I love fantasy books and there are a lot of them that I have yet to read so I thought I’d make a list of them.

August Book Haul

So it’s the end of August which means it’s book haul time. This is again another scheduled post since I shall be on holiday at the end of August but I’m pretty sure I won’t be getting any more books. This month I bought 4 books and got 4 from bookbridgr for review. Let’s get started.

At the start of the month, I finally recieved the three books from bookbridgr that I had requested in early July but took a while to come. The first one was Roomies by Sara Zarr and Tara Altebrando. I’ve already read this book and I really enjoyed it so massive thanks to bookbridgr and Hodder for sending this book to me. Click here for my spoiler free review. I recommend this book if you like contemporary books that focus more on friendship rather than relationships. The other two books I got from bookbridgr are both by Jennifer L. Armentrout who is a big author in the blogging and booktubing community but I have never seen her books in shops in the UK before. Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe that they are only now starting to sell some of her books in the UK. The first one I got was Cursed and I’ve never heard anyone talk about this one before. However the synopsis really intrigued me and I’ve already read it so click here to check out my spoiler free review. The last book I got from bookbridgr was Half Blood. I’ve heard quite a few people talk about this series before but it’s not her most well known series but it sounded interested so that’s why I requested and I shall be reading it soon hopefully. I also received a book from bookbridgr that I only recently requested and that was Day 21 by Kass Morgan. This is the sequel to the 100 which has a TV show that just recently aired in the UK. I’m excited to read these and I will probably read both of them back to back.

The final four books I bought from Waterstones, which is just the best shop ever. Most of their books are buy one get one half price so when I set out to buy only one book, I generally always come back with two. The first book I bought was Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. I have, of course, already read this book. I read it back in December but I love this books so much that I just needed to own them all so I finally bought a physical copy. The book that I bought along with that was Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. I finally bought the book that everybody raves about and I shall definitely be reading within the next month, for sure. I made sure that I bought the new pretty UK purple cover because it’s just stunning. I then went to buy Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins on it’s release day to complete my Stephanie Perkins collection. I’ve already read and loved this book. If you want to know more about my opinions on it, click here for my review. The final book that I bought alongside Isla was Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson. I’ve been wanting to read this book for over a year but I really disliked the UK original cover but they recently re-released it in the UK with the US cover so I bought it and read it and I was slightly disappointed but click here if you want to see my opinions on the book as a whole.

So that’s all the books I bought this month. My mum thinks I have a book buying problem so my book buying is going to be basically non-existent for the next few months.

August TBR

I’ve never done a TBR before because I don’t like to plan what I’m going to read ahead of time but I think planning ahead of time is easier because it will make me stick to the schedule of days that I have to finish the book by and I will therefore read more books. So welcome to my first ever TBR! I plan to hopefully read a total of at least 10 books this August. I’m hoping I surpass this because it is the summer holidays and I do have a lot more time. Let’s get going with my TBR.

The first book I plan on finishing is Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead. This book came out on the 29th July but I unfortunately had to wait 2 extra days to read it due to being busy. I’m currently reading this but I’m not very far in. Since it is Richelle Mead and bloodlines and since I’ve been waiting for this book for months, I shall hopefully finish it very soon.

The second book is another one that I’ve started but I haven’t finished and that book is Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld. This book actually isn’t released until September but I received a copy via netgalley. This is my first Scott Westerfeld book and I’m really enjoying it. It’s just slightly confusing and quite long. Hopefully I won’t take too long reading this book.

The next book I have to read is another proof copy and that is In A Handful of Dust by Mindy McGinnis. This is the second book in the Not A Drop to Drink duology and isn’t released until September but I was lucky enough to get my hands on a copy. I shall be reading this very soon especially since I really enjoyed Not A Drop to Drink(check out my review here).

The next book I plan on reading is Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. I have yet to get my hands on a copy of this book but I shall be soon. I AM FINALLY GOING TO READ THIS SERIES. This is apparently a great YA fantasy and I love me some YA fantasy so I’m excited. Hopefully, I’ll be drawn in and I will read it extremely quickly.

The next book I plan on reading is Just Like the Movies by Kelly Fiore. This is another cutesy YA contemporary and I love them. I read this romances quite quickly so hopefully I’ll read it in a day.

The next book I plan on reading is an August release and that is Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins. IT’S COMING OUT THIS MONTH AND YOU CAN BET YOUR BOTTOM DOLLAR THAT I’M GOING TO BE READING IT ON THE DAY. The amount of excitement that I have for this book is unreal and I just need it ASAP.

After Isla, I need to read Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. I need to read this over the holidays for English so I shall definitely be reading it at some point this month.

Then since I’ll be going on holiday, I’ve picked three quick and easy books that I should hopefully fly through. The first is Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins. There was a lot of hype about this book when it originally came out so I really want to read it. This is apparently a very funny book and I generally fly through those books easily. The next book is Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson. I’ve never read a book by Morgan Matson and this is her latest one. There has also been a lot of hype around this one since it came out and it’s again another contemporary which I shall hopefully fly through. The final book I have planned for this month is Alienated by Melissa Landers. This is a YA paranormal romance I believe and if it is anything like the Vampire Academy series in terms of pacing, I should hopefully fly through it really quickly.

That’s all the books I have planned for this month but I shall hopefully be receiving some books via Bookbridgr soon so I might end up reading those since they are review books. As part of my August wrap up, I’ll compare what I read to my TBR to see how well I stuck to it. Hopefully I’ll stick to it but also read more.
