Recent Reads #3

So it’s been a while since I talked about some of the books that I’m reading and this isn’t because I haven’t been reading. In fact, I’ve actually read quite a lot but I just haven’t felt like blogging about them. However, today I’m going to fill you in on some of the recent books I’ve read and loved.

Poison Study by Maria V Snyder

I recently bought this whole series from the works for ridiculously cheap and in an unexpected move, I actually started reading it straight away. At the time of writing this post, I am currently on the third book and I’m loving it. The first book was everything I wanted in a fantasy series and more. Whilst I do think that the second wasn’t as good as the first book, I’m still determined to finish this series. I don’t know why I didn’t read this series any earlier since it’s so well loved in the YA community.

My So Called Bollywood Life by Nisha Sharma

I’ve been hyped for this book since I first heard about it around 2 years ago so when it finally released in the US (It sadly has no UK publisher), I had to order a copy straight away so that I could read it. As expected, I read it all in one sitting. It’s my perfect book. YA romance with Bollywood references and dream appearances from Shah Rukh Khan? What more could I ask for?! I really hope it gets picked up by a UK publisher so I can rave about it even more. I can already tell that I’m going to re-read this a lot.

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne

Talking about re-reading, The Hating Game is a book that I only read last month for the first time and I’ve already re-read it twice. This was such an amazing adult romance series with the right amount of sexual tension. I actually didn’t mind all the sex scenes in the book because I loved this couple so much. I also loved how it was set in a publishing company because it made it so much more fun to read.

Heart of Betrayal by Mary E Pearson

The Kiss of Deception was the first book I read in 2015 and it was one of my favourites of that year. Sadly, I never carried on with the series but this year I was determined to finish some book series off and I successfully managed to finish the Remnant Chronicles and I’m so happy that I did. Whilst the sequels didn’t give me the amazing feeling that the first book did and I definitely felt like I would have loved the series more if I binge-read it, it was still a very good ending to the series. This is such an underrated YA fantasy series that needs more love.

Runaways by Rainbow Rowell

Now, everyone and their mother knows I’m obsessed with Rainbow Rowell so when the first volume of Runaways, her Marvel comic series, came out, I obviously had to pick it up and read it straight away. Comics aren’t a form of story that I’m used to but I still really enjoyed this first volume. I knew nothing about the Runaways but weirdly I didn’t feel confused at all. I can’t wait for volume 2 to release later this year.

So those are some of the recent reads that I’ve really enjoyed. What books have you read recently that I should definitely read? Let’s talk down in the comments.
