Review:

To start off this review, I’d like to just say that this title and cover does not suit this book at all in my opinion. While there is quite clearly a romance in the novel, I would definitely not call that the main storyline of the novel. Honestly, the novel is really about Darcy who has basically forced into growing up a lot quicker due to major changes in her life and that’s why I loved this book.

Darcy’s growth as a character is really quite unique. At the start, she was rich and enjoying her life as a rich girl but as all of this is taken away from her, she begins to change as she is forced to completely change her life around. I loved seeing her grow up and seeing her deal with what was happening to her. Her dad was missing, her mum may as well have also gone missing so the whole responsibility was on Darcy to get her family out of the mess that her parents got into. I loved her interaction with all the side characters especially Charlie, her uncle who she hasn’t seen in years.

Yes there was a romance in this book and I did really like it. I liked seeing them grow and when Darcy finally realised that she was being an idiot and that he liked her to, I wanted to scream hallelujah. I did feel like as a romance, at times it felt quite rushed and I felt like they got together at the wrong point in my opinion.

Overall, I really loved this book. It’s a great book that is incredibly realistic and if you like YA contemporary, I strongly suggest you check this book out.
